Every year over 1,000 participants on both Confederate and Union sides converge on the fields of New Market, combining efforts to reenact the fighting which took place there during the Civil War. This battle that occurred on May 15, 1864 was unique in that it took the aid of 257 V.M.I. cadets to overcome Union forces. Locals and tourists each come out in grand numbers to witness the depiction of fierce fighting performed by Civil War enthusiasts.

COYOTE: A member of the dog family, “Canis latrans” is commonly found throughout North America from woodlands to prairie grasslands to subalpine forests. Active throughout the day and night, coyotes feed on carrion, deer, sheep, rodents, birds and small reptiles. Males reach a length of 155 cm (62 in) nose to tail and weigh up to 23 kg (50 lbs) with females somewhat smaller. Litter size varies from four to eight pups, born in a den in April or May.
